Borough Colours

001_JH.jpg

Many people visited Borough Market but you can’t say you actually been there until you visit it on Saturday early morning, without tourists, crowd and noise.

It’s so peacefull and you can actually see all of its beauty rather than bumping into people.

If you’re a foodie, Borough Market is heaven. They have everything you could possibly wish for. From grocery stalls, piled high with fresh produce to artisanal bakeries, deli shops to most important, street food stalls.

I got up last Saturday way too early for me and went for a stroll with my friend

IMG_1649IMG_1658010_JH

And lots of good looking stalls…

Who would resist and not have sneaky little treat…or two

I’m so glad that, even though summer is almost finished, new collections on the high street are still colourful.

As soon as I saw this skirt I knew that this is the item that will keep me cheerful during cold autumn days.

And of course, everyone needs cute little bee bag, right?

Favourite Brunch Spots in London

Dishoom

You’ve probably been to Dishoom for dinner, but have you been for breakfast?

As a big fan of naan(and everything Indian), just a thought that it’s on their brunch menu in combination with bacon and egg made me want to go. But they are also sausage naan, Bombay omelette and lots of chai.

Dishoom is the place that I highly recommend for everything, not just breakfast, because their menu is just fantastic.

Dishoom is located in Shoreditch, Kings Cross, Covent Garden and

If nothing you have to visit this place only because of beautiful decor. Airy location in Clerkenwell with flower upholstery would make Pinterest worth interior. More important thing is they can do amazing food. Eggs benedict , the hollandaise potato hash or just English breakfast, you can’t choose wrong

Farm Girl

Hidden in a white brick courtyard at the end of Portabello road, Farm Girl cafe is easier to miss than find. Make sure you don’t get lost in a sea of tourists photographing colourful houses and come in to discover this green-tiled heaven.

Rose, Farm girl herself, Stacey, the front of the house and barista Stuart are all from Australia so the service is relaxed and charming in a warm and welcoming environment.

Food is holistic and healthy with fresh, nutritionally nurturing ingredients from porridge and pancakes to chicken sandwich and steak and chips which is served after 11.

Of course, you will need some drink and latte  is always a good choice. For the brave ones, here you can try some unusual types of latte like Rose or Lavander.

Pachamama

Peruvian breakfast? You probably never thought that that kind of thing exist but it’s her, hidden in Marylebone. Place is open for almost 2 years and the dishes on the seasonally-changing menu are designed to share, featuring sea food, vegaetables and grilled meat. But probably the best part of the menu are gluten free, sweet potatoe waffles with sweet and savoury toppings. The are the best looking waffles you’ll ever see. They are changing toppings but it’s always delicious, no matter what is on.

Favourite Bakery

One day while walking to Covent Garden, somehow I end up in front of bakery Fabrique. I walked in and from that moment I’m a regular visitor. Not just that they have sourdough bread, freshly baked in Hoxton every day but they sell probably the best cinnamon buns ever!

Fabrique was founded by David and Charlotta Zetterstrom in Stockholm in 2007 and numbers of bakeries have been rising as fast as the dough. There are now 13 Fabrique’s in Stockholm and already three in London. The aim is that you can go into any Fabrique bakery and the cinnamon buns will taste just the same.

So if you want to try original Swedish cinnamon buns head over to one of their bakeries in Hoxton, Coven Garden or Notting Hill.

I’m thrilled that 70s’ clothes are back! I guess I’m lucky enough to be one of those who can wear flares without looking short or chubby. Flares are the best with wedges, platforms or anything with heel bigger that 8cm.This one are from Zara as well as the shirt (last season) and bag(sold out).

Favourite Trend

The off-the-shoulder top is no longer a trend, it’s a wardrobe essential. The top is flirty, flattering, and there is no reason why everyone shouldn’t wear it. The off-the-shoulder design can be found in tops or in dresses, making it endlessly versatile and extremely popular.  This season very popular are those ones in pastel colours, bell-sleeved, frilled and embroidered. Here are my high street favourites

Favourite Book

I’m so into Girl on The Train type of books, where you think you know something but you actually don’t know anything, with a plot full of twists and turns so when I started reading Rachel Abbot’s Sleep Tight I knew that I need to buy all the books she ever wrote. Unfortunately, I started from the middle as this book is #3 with the main character DC Tom Douglas.  This book contains everything that a good psychological thriller should; there is a great puzzle to be solved and uncertainty about which characters can be believed and it’s a proper page turner.  Short description: Olivia Brookes calls the police to report that her husband and children are missing, but this isn’t the first tragedy that Olivia has experienced…

Now, two years later, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Douglas is called in to investigate this family again, but this time, it’s Olivia who has disappeared. All the evidence suggests that she was here, in the family home, that morning. But her car is in the garage, and her purse is in her handbag – on the kitchen table. The police want to issue a national appeal, but for some reason, every single picture of this family has been removed from albums, from phones, from computers.

And then they find the blood…

Just until recently only face product I used was baby face cream. But long, cold and windy London winters made a damage to my face. It became red on certain places and dry so I decide to try something. I discovered  L’Oreal Nude Magique Anti-Redness CC Cream which works with your natural tone to help neutralise the appearance of redness.
Smart Pigment Capsules in a feather-light green hydrator transform into foundation on contact with the skin and in that way giving my all the things that I need in just one bottle. It also has SPF 20!

Favourite Sky Restaurant

Duck&Waffle

This place is so exclusive that you need to book in advance for almost 2 months and the reason is the view, of course 🙂 Duck & Waffle is on the 40th floor of Heron Tower and from there you can see almost whole London, up to the Wembley and you are just next to the Gherkin which looks so great with all the lights on! Anyway, the view is great so I was going there because of that, I didn’t expect much when it comes to food, mainly because there was 5 thing on the menu and I only eat chicken.

And we order the whole chicken! Yep, on the Sunday evening, 10pm,whole chicken and two of us! Not very healthy but it was so delicious! Probably the best chicken I ever had.

If you didn’t try Duck & Waffle you really have to. If you book now maybe you will there in January but it is worth of waiting.

Blanket Scarf

There are so many things I love about the autumn:  leaves, hot cocoa, plaid, layers, boots, and of course, blanket scarves.  Not only are they the perfect accessory, but they are also a great way to keep nice and cozy this time of year.

This year scarfs are even better because they are actually  blankets and everyone who knows me knows that I’m a blanket addict if that thing even exist.

I purchased my one on Amazon, but they are everywhere so I’m thinking to get few more. You can’t have too many if you live in London

Until now I never had concealer and then I picked up this Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer and I have to say that I’m amazed. I don’t use anything else for my face except this. It has amazing coverage, a lovely sponge applicator, it feels soft and hydrating.I just don’t know how I lived without one before.

Favourite Book

My favourite thing during the Autumn/Winter season is reading under my, earlier mentioned, blanket. I’m reading all the time but once in a while I find a book that is so amazing I have to share my review with everyone.

This time, the book is The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson. It’s a psychological thriller about the man named Ted who meets mysterious woman Lilly on the flight from London to Boston.  Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage and his wife Miranda, who he’s sure is cheating on him. But their game turns dark when Ted jokes that he could kill Miranda for what she’s done. Lily, without missing a beat, says calmly, “I’d like to help.”

This was a page turner, with so many twists and turns that I stopped counting. Book worth reading.

Fashion World’s Favourite Cookies

fashion-makes-it-way-onto-cakes-001_840_472

When Vogue is writing about you and names like Burberry ,Maybelline and L’Oreal are ordering your product you know that you are on the right path and doing really good job.

Eat Me Maybe is luxury dessert brand based in UK founded by ex fashion PR Jade Jackman and her best friend Andrea Gamble.

For them making cookies and cakes is primary way to relax but it seems like it’s going to turn into full time business due to the fact they had big break into cake market with three floors cake for L’Oreal’s Color Riche birthday party.

From that moment, orders pile up one after another.

Given the fact that I’m big cake/cookie fan and only mention of those can bring smile on my face but also fashion lover,I couldn’t resist to creative achievements of Eat Me Maybe. Burberry raincoats,Michael Kors bags and Louboutine shoes are some of the sweet creations the two friends made.

They are proof that success is  inevitable when you like what you are doing.

Favourite Coffee

Like a big coffee drinker I’m trying to avoid places like Starbucks because that’s not really a coffee, not to me though.

I’m more into those independent small coffee shops so when I discovered new place called Black Penny in Covent Garden I was amazed with the first sip of that coffee. It’s creamy ,delicious and not bitter at all.

And I can day for sure it’s the best coffee I ever tried.

Black Penny is inspired by the coffee houses of 17th Century England and it’s located on Great Queen Street in Covent Garden so stop by if not for coffee then definitely for delicious breakfast or lunch which you can choose from lovely display on the counter

Favourite Accessories

As if handbags  are not enough accessories by them self now they need to have their own accessories. But that’s fine, these cute furry pom poms you’ll like to have.

I had one already last season but now they are everywhere from Fendi to Topshop and Accessorize . Opt for bright colours to give a life to dark and boring colours of winter.

Favourite Make Up

In this case make up remover 🙂

So I purchased the Garnier Micellar Water just to see what is all the fuss about that Micellar Water .To be honest , I’ve always been more of a makeup wipe kind of girl when it comes to removing makeup.

For those who don’t know what is Micellar water her is the clue. Micellar water takes its name from micelles, tiny  balls of cleansing molecules that float in the water. And that molecule binds with oil and dirt ,therefore removing it from your face.

I have to say Garnier have impressed me. Normally when I’m cleaning my face rubbing is necessary but with this everything comes off straight away. I would recommend to everyone

If you are in fashion you probably seen Dior and I,if you are thinking to go into fashion first see Dior and I,if you are into art or drama see Dior and I! This all access documentary is focusing on new Creative Director of Dior Raf Simmons . He joined Dior in Spring 2012 and had only 8 weeks to put together his first couture show which usually takes 6 months.

The best thing about “Dior and I” are the  humor and tensions through the whole movie

Weekend in Oxford

IMG_0163

I love to travel but because of my work I can’t do that as much as I want but that doesn’t stop me to have short weekend travels. London is great place for weekend travels.

Few weeks ago we decided to visit Oxford as I never been there before. Luckily my boyfriend was my tour guide. City of academic gowns, bikes and punts on the river is perfect for weekend gateway. It’s small enough so you can walk across it in a hour but still big enough to keep you busy. There are hundreds of years of academic history with museums and collages but there is also modern part of the city where you can explore great bars and restaurants.

So now here is my guide  on how to spend a weekend in Oxford

Universities

Oxford university has 38 different collages around the city. Probably the best known is Christ Church- it had a role of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and its famous students-Lewis Caroll,Albert Einstein and 13 Prime Ministers .Other good collages are Merton, Magdalen,Corpus Christi, Hertford, All Souls and Oriel.

You can get 90 min walking tour around colleges with former student( 11am-4pm, £9,95 adults)

The Bridge Of Sights at Hertford College

Castle Quarter

Not just you can have a tour of Oxford Castle Unlocked ,you can also stay in Oxford’s castle-turned-prison-turned-hotel, the Malmaison and spend the night in cells or student room, depends how much money you have 🙂

Either way pop into the Malmaison for a cocktail in the old prison’s visitors room then take the a short walk around the corner for French bistro-style food at Côte Brasserie.

Museums

Oxford has a huge range of different museums to choose from. The city’s biggest is the Ashmolean with a mix of art and archaeological exhibits.

For something  unusual, check out  Pitt Rivers Museum. This anthropological museum was founded 125 years ago with 20,000 items donated by archaeologist Augustus Pitt Rivers.

Punting

Punting is something you can’t miss if you are visiting Oxford. There are two rivers in the city, the Cherwell and the Thames (which is called the Isis when it’s in Oxford).

Underneath Magdalen Bridge by the Botanic Gardens is where you’ll find the most punts. You can hire one that fits up to five people  for £20 an hour , or get a boatman to do the work for you for £25 per 30 minutes.

Eating and Drinking

When you get hungry you can visit Covered Market with the range of different stalls from local farms and also cafes and sandwich bars . You can eat there or have a picnic by the river at Botanical Gardens. Also there is The Jam Factory – the birthplace of Frank Cooper’s famous marmalade and now home to local artwork.

Some of the best places to eat and drink in Oxford are riverside pub The Trout , historical pub Eagle and Child where writers like CS Lewis and JR Tolkien used to meet or vintage glasshouse   Gees and many more.

Iced Coffee Recipe

chocolate-almond-milk-with-creamy-malted-coffee-ice-cubes-7_840_472

Coffee is quite possibly my favourite food. Is coffee a food? Yeah, I think so.If you are coffee addict like me you probably can’t imagine a day without at least one morning cup of coffee. Once the weather turns hot and humid, my coffee turns ice cold. I still  start the day with one cup of hot coffee, but after that, it’s cold.

Coffee and dessert in one,it can’t get any better right?

It’s very easy to make ice coffee at home with only few ingredients

Coconut Iced coffee

For this one you will need time because for the best result you will need sweetened condensed coconut milk which you need to simmer with sugar over the fire around one hour or until liquid is reduced by half. When it’s done add vanilla extract.

Separate make ice coffee cubes. So just put coffee into ice trays and froze it.When it’s all done, put the cubes into milk and decorate however you like.

Coconut-Iced-Coffee...with-Mini-Chocolate-Glazed-Coffee-Doughnuts.-292

Chocolate Ice Coffee

If you are chocolate addict the good trick will be to add frozen chocolate cubes into your coffee instead regular ice. Simple put chocolate milk into ice tray and when it’s frozen put it in your coffee

halfbakedharvest_840_472

Vanilla instead of Ice

You will need 2 cups of milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar ,2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract .

In a small saucepan, combine milk, sugar and vanilla extract over low heat. Stir constantly until sugar is dissolved about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat. Pour milk mixture into ice cube molds and place in freezer until frozen.

Place 3-4 frozen  Vanilla cubes into a mug and pour hot brewed coffee over them. Add a few more once the first batch melts, if desired.

Delicious Fruit Pie

img4052_840_472

There is one more reason I like summer- berries. Strawberries, blueberries are my favourite so I found this delicious recipe . In this recipe one more thing is important except berries-my other addiction chocolate .

img3991_840_472

Ingredients for 6 small pies or 1 bigger

250 g ground biscuits (Digestive)

80 g butter

400g white chocolate

200ml double cream

Berries( Strawberries,Blueberries)

Pistachio

Melt butter and pour over the ground biscuits. Mix together and press into molds for pies. you can use  6 small moulds, or one big. The amount of ingredients will be sufficient for a thin crust.  Place it in preheated oven at 180 degrees for 5 minutes.

2_840_472

The cream is very simple because you can do ganache. For this we need only two ingredients,  chocolate and double cream . Chop the chocolate ,heat the cream to boiling point. Pour the cream over the chocolate and stir the chocolate until it’s melted.

Pour that into molds and put strawberries, blueberries and pistachio on the top

Favourite Tapas Pincho Since I tried tapas in Barcelona I didn’t believe that I’ll find something as much as good in London. But I was wrong. Pinch, Mediterranean tapas bar, is at the end of the row of quaint little shops and pubs that lines Church Street in Twickenham.

With big outdoor seating space, Pincho seems to be full every weekend for lunch and dinner.
We opted for chorizo a la blanch with flaming brandy, chicken skewers ,pork belly, damon croquettes and patatas bravas . It was so delicious it felt like we are back in Barcelona.Which wasn’t surprising because we found out that chef is actually from Barcelona 🙂
