Golden Dreams

novo1

For a while now, pleated skirts are every girl’s must have item. Have to say, I was a little bit skeptic about it because literally I never wore a skirt that covers my knees. I though it will make me look like my grandma, considering I mostly wear flat shoes.

So, the skirt was regularly avoided in every shop until recently when I was browsing through ASOS, as usual trying to spend money on things that I don’t need. This skirt looked so pretty that I didn’t care about price, especially not length. I’m wearing it now with ankle boots but it will look great on sandals or heels or even ballet flats.

I just can’t be more happy about it.

Another obsession at the moment is velvet. I managed to avoid the trap of buying expensive velvet dresses, trousers or coats which will be out of fashion probably by the end of this year and opted for safer option –  accessories and boots.

These boots are from Dorothy Perking and I love the fact that they are actually navy blue but depending on the light they are changing color and sometimes look black.

Velvet bag has a long story. It’s been sold out in burgundy and black for a long time now. I managed to hunt down last one at Topshop sale last week after looking for it literally everywhere! Great cure for January depression!

In Wonderland

After discovering Syon House and Garden earlier this year I just keep coming back. Not many know about this place, probably because it’s a secluded, all the way in the zone 5, London Borough of Hounslow, and it’s used mainly as a wedding venue.

I’ve never been a model but I love the process of taking the pictures and rushing home to edit them. That’s why it wasn’t a problem for me to wake up early on Sunday morning and go to this magical place with my friend before other people start coming. We were lucky because it was a beautiful sunny and warm September day.

Walking around and enjoying only birds and squirrels, I couldn’t stop thinking about all the people who use to lived there, and some still do ( house is owned by Duke of Northumberland).I was feeling like I’m in a fairytale, most possibly because of tulle with gold embroidery I finally found!

Borough Colours

001_JH.jpg

Many people visited Borough Market but you can’t say you actually been there until you visit it on Saturday early morning, without tourists, crowd and noise.

It’s so peacefull and you can actually see all of its beauty rather than bumping into people.

If you’re a foodie, Borough Market is heaven. They have everything you could possibly wish for. From grocery stalls, piled high with fresh produce to artisanal bakeries, deli shops to most important, street food stalls.

I got up last Saturday way too early for me and went for a stroll with my friend

If you think you don’t need flowers, you will change your mind when you see this cute place.

Anyone for some delicious fruits?

And lots of good looking stalls…

Who would resist and not have sneaky little treat…or two

I’m so glad that, even though summer is almost finished, new collections on the high street are still colourful.

As soon as I saw this skirt I knew that this is the item that will keep me cheerful during cold autumn days.

And of course, everyone needs cute little bee bag, right?

New Dresses from Zara

Known as Zara addict, I spend most of my shopping time browsing Zara’s shelves which resulted in 95% Zara closet at home.  It’s very hard for me to say what I don’t like about Zara, maybe crowded shops and endless queues or the fact UK’s Zara is more expensive than any other Zara in Europe? But clothes-like, there is nothing I wouldn’t buy.

With every new collection I realise there are many things I’m missing in my closet but the first thing I’m attracted to is dresses.

According to new collection, off shoulders dresses with frills, retro dresses and floral ones  will still be popular. Polka dots are back which will probably be great news for those who love 50’s fashion.

Denim Spring/Summer Guide

7316b8ab5cbdc2c033eae77291af9579

1. Dungarees

I can’t resist a good pair of jeans and almost every outfit features at least one item of clothing made from denim. Lately, I have been wearing lots of dark blue and black denim but with spring finally here I’m pulling out good old white jeans, light blue and distressed.

My ultimate destination for the pair of jeans is Zara because they have just the right fit for me. Other denim garments I’m buying mostly from ASOS and Topshop.

Denim is probably only fabric that is trendy every season even though shapes are changing. Important thing is to find shape that flatters your body and fits in with your current style.

Have a look at denim trends you need to shop this season

Favourite Bakery

One day while walking to Covent Garden, somehow I end up in front of bakery Fabrique. I walked in and from that moment I’m a regular visitor. Not just that they have sourdough bread, freshly baked in Hoxton every day but they sell probably the best cinnamon buns ever!

Fabrique was founded by David and Charlotta Zetterstrom in Stockholm in 2007 and numbers of bakeries have been rising as fast as the dough. There are now 13 Fabrique’s in Stockholm and already three in London. The aim is that you can go into any Fabrique bakery and the cinnamon buns will taste just the same.

So if you want to try original Swedish cinnamon buns head over to one of their bakeries in Hoxton, Coven Garden or Notting Hill.

Favourite Outfit

I’m thrilled that 70s’ clothes are back! I guess I’m lucky enough to be one of those who can wear flares without looking short or chubby. Flares are the best with wedges, platforms or anything with heel bigger that 8cm.This one are from Zara as well as the shirt (last season) and bag(sold out).

Favourite Trend

The off-the-shoulder top is no longer a trend, it’s a wardrobe essential. The top is flirty, flattering, and there is no reason why everyone shouldn’t wear it. The off-the-shoulder design can be found in tops or in dresses, making it endlessly versatile and extremely popular.  This season very popular are those ones in pastel colours, bell-sleeved, frilled and embroidered. Here are my high street favourites

Favourite Book

I’m so into Girl on The Train type of books, where you think you know something but you actually don’t know anything, with a plot full of twists and turns so when I started reading Rachel Abbot’s Sleep Tight I knew that I need to buy all the books she ever wrote. Unfortunately, I started from the middle as this book is #3 with the main character DC Tom Douglas.  This book contains everything that a good psychological thriller should; there is a great puzzle to be solved and uncertainty about which characters can be believed and it’s a proper page turner.  Short description: Olivia Brookes calls the police to report that her husband and children are missing, but this isn’t the first tragedy that Olivia has experienced…

Now, two years later, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Douglas is called in to investigate this family again, but this time, it’s Olivia who has disappeared. All the evidence suggests that she was here, in the family home, that morning. But her car is in the garage, and her purse is in her handbag – on the kitchen table. The police want to issue a national appeal, but for some reason, every single picture of this family has been removed from albums, from phones, from computers.

And then they find the blood…

Favourite Beauty

Just until recently only face product I used was baby face cream. But long, cold and windy London winters made a damage to my face. It became red on certain places and dry so I decide to try something. I discovered  L’Oreal Nude Magique Anti-Redness CC Cream which works with your natural tone to help neutralise the appearance of redness.
Smart Pigment Capsules in a feather-light green hydrator transform into foundation on contact with the skin and in that way giving my all the things that I need in just one bottle. It also has SPF 20!

Everyone is Wearing: Bomber Jacket

jakne-bomber1.jpg.pagespeed.ce.-kVPklGAJQ

Her majesty leather jacket will have to be satisfied with second place this spring because now it’s all about the bomber.

Originally bomber jackets were made for pilots during the World War I because planes didn’t have a cabin so pilots needed something comfortable and resistant to wind and cold.

Leslie Leroy Irvin, the man who founded the company for design and manufacture of parachutes and an avid fan of flying, knew about pilots needs for a functional garment so he came up with the first bomber jacket lined with warm fur.

From 70’s different subcultures embraced this trend and as the hip hop music gained popularity bomber slowly became part of  the mainstream culture.

Today on the market there are bomber jackets with prices over £10,000 which says enough about the new identity of once military clothing item.

Gucci SS16

Almost everyone presented some sort of bomber jacket in their Spring Summer 16 collections: Gucci offers a green model embellished with golden and silver thread, McQueen proposed satin one in a color of Bazooka chewing gum, Chloe welcomes the spring with  green bomber jacket decorated with embroidered tiger while Stella McCartney chose girly motifs like flowers and pink horses.

High street also loves this trend so in Zara you will be able to find it in several models, from monochrome to those with flowers and at H&M you will find retro ones decorated with sequins.

Kingston is that part of London that isn’t really London but it’s is because it’s apparently Zone 6…Never mind,it’s still great. It has river walks with amazing views, Ancient Market which is there for last 800 years, lots of shops and restaurants and…this unique phone boots.

Navy and Magic

On the second day in Barcelona we’ve seen lots of places but my favourite were Montjuic and one of Gaudi’s work Casa Batllo. Magic Fountain de Montjuic and Palau Nacional are so great that we had to visit it twice in  the same day.

For Casa Batllo you have to pay entrance but inside is so special, like anything you’ve seen before so is definitely worth it.

For day at sightseeing I opted for my favourite striped top and navy skirt.

Favourite Tapas

La Pepita

I’m tapas monster 🙂 Even in London I want to have tapas every week. So first thing I did when we arrived to Barcelona was to ask our hosts were is the best tapas place. They recommended La Pepita ,small but lovely restaurant and bar in Gràcia. It was the best tapas I ever had!  From patatas bravas, croquettes to Spanish ham and even fried egg with crisps…everything was amazing.

After delicious dinner we ordered dessert which was definitely something that I didn’t know it exist – Corn Ice Cream with Popcorns and Raspberries. Surprisingly it was delicious just like everything .Good thing is it not too busy and guest are mostly Spanish so you can be sure it’s good 🙂  I would recommend everyone to go there when they visiting Barcelona

Favourite Shopping

Like a real Zara fan only thing I was thinking is Zara. And I have to say it’s much better than London Zara. It’s much bigger with much more choice(they say better quality as well). Mango,Stradivarius,Pull&Bear and Bershka are everywhere. Literally everywhere. Best part for shopping spree is Passeig de Gràcia where you can choose from high street brand to exclusive designer stores.

If you are weird and you are not into clothes 😉 there is a amazing colour coordinated market ,famous La Boqueria . Everything is fresh and delicious . It’s good that I had breakfast before, otherwise I would buy everything 🙂
